Program: Broadcast Video Production

Lesson Title:  Product Promotion

Performance Objective: Complete and submit on tape a thirty second product promotion from pre-approved script including information and size limitations provided.  Each step will have a 5-day cycle with each segment worth 100 points for a total of 300 possible.  Grading criterion is attached

 

Learning Center: Assignment specification available on line.  Script work done at home or in the lab.  Product scene shot in designated lab location.  Editing and voice and music additions in the media lab. Reviews in class room.

Integrated Academic Competencies (specifically write the content connection):

 

 Language Arts: English and creative writing techniques in the creation and direction of both audio and video script and description

 

 Math: Estimation of the number and length of video shots, music and voice over timing and length and in the edit an exact selection with an exact: 30 sec length

 

 Science: The result of lights. Audio and electromagnetic fields on the image and sounds captured and edited to tape

 

 Social Studies: The topic could address a issue of possible social interest and could call for action of a humanitarian or other social science nature

 

 Computer Applications: From typing the script to operating the digital editing system computers are integral in the production process

 

 Safety: The video shooting process both studio and field offers numerous opportunities for safety issues that will need to be managed in a site and situation specific manner

 

Equipment, Materials, and Other Resources:

Script approval before use of studio camera using provided videotape.  The light kit can be reserved and used for additional lighting effects.  Access to the lab product shoot environment as devised by instructor.  Product less than 1x1x1 foot in size and pre approved by instructor.  A tape to record edited project to as well as a label to mark the student tape and submission date.
